South Sudanese Refugees

After gaining its independence in 2011, becoming the youngest nation in the world, South Sudan has been rocked by a civil war that began in December 2013. The short lull from the violence lasted until a fresh waves of violence erupted in July 2016 and it slid back into chaos with abuse of civilians by armed men including rape, murder and looting, and up to 300,000 people are estimated to have been killed in the war so far, and more than 3.5 million people have been displaced in a country of 12 million and more than 1.5 million having fled to neighboring countries, Uganda hosting the most.
