Silverback relaxes at Kahuzi-Biega National Park, 25 miles outside Bukavu, in the province of South Kivu in Democratic Republic of Congo Sunday October 3, 2005. Wild animals, including Highland Gorillas, were poached for food during its civil war. There were 252 gorillas in the park in 1992 before the war broke out. Only 106 remains today, however the number is slowly increasing due to relative stability and support from NGOs. Photo by Jiro Ose / Redux Pictures
